We have lots of upcoming horror games to look forward to, with some of the biggest new games for 2025 in the genre fast approaching. While we’ve seen some recent changes to the launch line-up this year, including the delay of Supermassive’s Directive 8020 into 2026, along with Dying Light: The Beast, which has been pushed back from its August window by four weeks for “extra polish”, there’s plenty in the months ahead to keep us spooked and entertained.
In a few weeks, we’ll be getting a trippy sci-fi title as well as a new Silent Hill game. That’s on top of some indie gems and newly announced outings from the recent Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 presentation, too. So to help you stay on top of all the delightful gore and thrills, we’re here to help. This roundup speaks to just how much is on the way for horror fans in 2025 and beyond, from the long-awaited sequel to Resident Evil Village with Resident Evil 9 (which is officially titled Requiem), a remake of the original Silent Hill from Bloober Team, and so much more.
With so much to keep track of, including new experiences from developers behind some of the best horror games of all time, we’ve brought together the biggest upcoming horror games headed our way in release date order below, so you can get ready for the scares and add to your wishlists.

Upcoming horror games 2025
Hell is Us
Developer: Rogue Factor
Platform(s): PC, PS5, Xbox Series X
Release date: September 4, 2025
Although Hell is Us isn’t tagged under horror on the Steam Store page, you can’t tell us that it isn’t after watching that trailer. Filled with trippy and frankly horrifying imagery, the upcoming game is set in a war-torn country that also happens to be packed with supernatural creatures. What makes it more prone to jump scares is the fact that there is no map or compass, meaning that if you panic, it’s very easy to become completely lost as well. It may be more inline as an action-horror, but no doubt that this September release will be plenty scary in its own right.
Cronos: The New Dawn
Developer: Bloober Team
Platform(s): PS5, Xbox Series X, PC
Release date: September 5, 2025
Off the back of its Silent Hill 2 success, Bloober Team’s new upcoming horror game looks like a spiritual successor to Dead Space. Third-person survival horror action is the flavor of the day in Cronos: The New Dawn as we step into the spaceboots of The Traveler. Even gnarlier? We’ll have to dispatch our foes with fire, lest living enemies merge bodies with fallen undead corpses and come back even stronger. Expect grotesque body horror in the silent chasm of deep space when Cronos: The New Dawn launches later in 2025.
